New partnership with the Port of Québec

Québec City, June 6, 2023 – The Port of Québec is pleased to announce a partnership with 2 Degrés, a business incubator specializing in clean technologies. This two-year partnership is in line with the Port of Quebec’s Vision 2035, unveiled earlier this year, in which innovation is at the forefront. With the help of 2 Degrés and their expertise in propelling Quebec start-ups towards the realization of clean technology initiatives, the Port of Quebec has set itself the target of finding innovative solutions in several sectors, including the fight against climate change, clean energy development, decarbonization and city-port cohabitation.

Specifically, over the next two years, 2 Degrés will support young start-up companies that can meet the Port’s challenges in the water, energy and waste management sectors. The port will be a great playground for these entrepreneurial start-ups, who will have access not only to the port’s infrastructure, but also to the experts of the entire port community present here to develop technologies.

“Last February, we unveiled our Vision 2035, one of the four pillars of which focuses on innovation, as our organization strives to become a leading-edge port that stands out internationally. Thus, offering our port facilities as a laboratory to develop and promote the expertise of our technology companies, and to make them known throughout the world, is part of a leading-edge action. The solutions developed thanks to this partnership can be applied to other ports, here and abroad, that are facing the same challenges as we are. This is a great opportunity for us to boost our Quebec companies and promote economic spin-offs for Quebec in the clean technology sector.said Mario Girard, President and CEO of the Port of Québec.

“This new partnership, in line with our mission, makes us very proud! Together, in addition to contributing to the emergence of new cleantech companies, we will address the challenges faced by the Port through innovative solutions, create sustainable wealth and promote Quebec’s great potential, both here and internationally. The Port of Québec’s involvement in this way is highly significant for us, the entrepreneurial ecosystem, the cleantech sector and our partners. This commitment demonstrates a strong desire to do things differently, to set our sights high, and to see the challenges we collectively face as a great opportunity to dare, to innovate, to collaborate and to shape what tomorrow’s economy has the potential to be, together”. says Alexandre Guindon, General Manager and co-founder of 2 Degrés.

Two companies identified by the Port of Québec

Following the call for projects launched last March by 2 Degrés in partnership with the Port of Québec, six new clean-tech companies are now joining the 2 Degrés incubation program.

As part of this partnership, and in line with the targets identified, the Port of Québec has initiated discussions with two companies supported by the incubator to explore possible collaboration. Further collaborations under development will be announced shortly.
