Aquarius fishing technologies

Technologies de pêche Aquarius Inc. is a startup that grew out of a student project at the Université de Sherbrooke. Our team is made up of 8 engineering students, all with an interest in green technologies. We decided to tackle the problem of trawling, one of the most environmentally damaging commercial fishing techniques. However, this method accounts for 25% of all seafood products worldwide, and a $500 billion industry. So we can't abolish it, and that's why our mission at Aquarius is to make commercial trawling sustainable and profitable. To achieve this, we are developing an innovative technology that attaches directly to fishing nets, enabling them to be adjusted directly to their depth. By controlling the depth, we can prevent the net from rubbing against the seabed, which destroys ecosystems and harms the regeneration of marine flora and fauna. What's more, this depth control makes trawling more efficient, while optimizing fishermen's practices in compliance with regulations, helping to improve their profitability.
