Trough Power

During the coldest days of winter, Hydro-Québec's capacity is exceeded during peak hours, at great cost to the utility and to taxpayers. The solution currently proposed by Hydro-Québec is to reduce consumption by lowering the temperature in the home. This proposal is associated by many with a reduction in comfort.

Instead of sacrificing comfort in the home, TroughPower wants to offer electrically-powered heating systems with the ability to store energy thermally ahead of need to avoid demand during peak hours.

While the technology is applicable to a number of peak demand issues, the product's current vision is to offer an alternative to the traditional electric baseboard heater by providing the thermal storage capacity to heat a room during peak demand.
